He Came to Set the Captive Free
Let not Your people be consumed and swallowed whole
By the travesties of the day and the wiles of the enemy.
Break us loose, oh God,
From complacency and hopelessness.
Let not these fetters pull us down to low, troubling places,
But King, it is You, who is the Lifter of our heads.
Make us whole,
And let us not be lost in the folds of humanity, in the thoughts and perceptions of men,
In the folds of iniquity.
We are Yours, and there is a triumphant cry.
Let it come before You
Loud and clear.
In Your hearing,
Let it come before You.
Hear the cry of Your people,
Oh Triumphant One, move.
Let Your trumpet blow,
And be heard across the land,
And we shall shout at the coming of the Lord.
I declare freedom
From the shackles and enslavements.
Freedom for the captives,
Wholeness for the wanderers,
Rest for the nomads,
Refreshing for the weary.
